AI-themed SEO poisoning attacks spread info, crypto stealers
Attackers are using SEO poisoning that exploits people’s interest in artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots to spread infostealing malware.
Researchers from Zscaler ThreatLabz uncovered the campaign recently, which involves AI-themed websites and leverages people’s interest in tools such as ChatGPT and Luma AI, they revealed in a recent blog post.
Attackers built the websites using WordPress and designed them to “poison search engine rankings and increase the probability of unsuspecting users landing on these webpages,” Manisha Ramcharan Prajapati and Meghraj Nandanwar wrote in the post.
