NSA taps new second-in-command Tim Kosiba after months of uncertainty
The National Security Agency announced Friday it had selected Tim Kosiba as its new deputy director — ending a prolonged period of uncertainty surrounding President Donald Trump’s pick for the top civilian role at the powerful spy agency.
The NSA previously announced the selection of Joe Francescon as the agency’s No. 2 last August, but Trump quietly dropped his selection and began eyeing Kosiba, as POLITICO first reported in November.
In its Friday press release, the NSA said the appointment of Kosiba, a 30-year veteran of the NSA and FBI, was made by Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and “approved” by Trump.
