Security ‘incident’ pushes Nevada state websites, phones offline

A number of Nevada’s state websites, online services and phone lines, including those for the Nevada Highway Patrol and Nevada State Police, are experiencing an outage that began over the weekend.

When the Nevada Governor’s Office of Technology said on LinkedIn it began investigating midday on Sunday, it cited a network issue. But in a press release on Monday, the office said the outage is the result of “an early-morning network security incident.”

The office said that network issue is causing some state websites, online services and office phone lines to be slow or temporarily unavailable. This includes the dispatch phone lines of the Nevada Highway Patrol and Nevada State Police.
