The pro-Iran hackers who claimed to be behind a mid-month Microsoft outage took credit this evening for hitting the X platform.

According to Downdetector, there was a spike in user reports of problems at the social media site around 4:41 p.m. EST. At 5:03 p.m., the Islamic Cyber Resistance in Iraq – 313 Team posted a Downdetector screenshot on their Telegram showing a spike in reports at 11:44 p.m. (Baghdad is seven hours ahead of the U.S. East Coast).

“The Islamic Cyber Resistance in Iraq – 313 Team carried out a massive cyber attack targeting the X platform (Twitter),” the group posted. “The attack caused the website and application to crash. The Downdetector platform recorded thousands of reports of the crash. Currently, the application and website are still experiencing major disruptions.”

313 Team also claimed in separate posts to have temporarily knocked out the online flight tracking site FlightAware “for a few minutes,” as well as the KICK livestreaming platform. The group also claimed an hourlong attack against the Squarespace website, the eToro Israeli stocks and crypto trading platform and Amazon Saudi Arabia, which they said was shut down for four hours.

Their first Telegram post of the day was a forwarded Hackmanac post indicating that the 313 Team was the “most active threat actor” last week, with 52 cyberattack claims.

On Saturday, 313 Team said they attacked Aldi’s U.S. website and Instacart. “We attacked Instacart’s main servers, and the attack completely disabled the electronic application,” the group said in a Telegram post accompanied by Downdetector screenshots. “The Downdetector platform detected hundreds of reports of a very large outage affecting the Instacart application due to the cyber attack carried out by the Islamic Cyber Resistance in Iraq – 313 Team.”

On March 16, the 313 Team claimed to have “launched a cyberattack targeting Microsoft 365 servers, completely shutting down the website” for five hours. “Reports of Microsoft 365 service outages continue to pour in on DownDetector, a testament to the power and capability we possess,” they posted.

The hackers posted screenshots of posts from the official X feed for Microsoft 365 service incidents. “We’re investigating reports of some users experiencing issues when accessing their Exchange Online mailbox via one or more connection methods,” the company said, adding about two and a half hours later, “We identified and resolved an underlying issue involving the supporting network infrastructure that resulted in service degradation. After a period of monitoring, we can confirm that the service is healthy.”

313 Team said in response on their Telegram channel that their effort against Microsoft “continues,” and they pointed to users reporting problems on Downdetector throughout the day.
