Colt telecommunications struggles in wake of cyber incident
UK-based telecommunications company Colt Technology Services has confirmed that a “cyber incident” is the culprit of the technical issues its customers have been experiencing over the past few days.
Colt first acknowledged service disruption issues on Aug. 12, and it later confirmed that the technical issues were affecting the company’s Colt Online Platform and its Voice API platform, making them unavailable for its customers. On Aug. 14, the company stated that it had detected a cyber incident on an internal system separate from its customers’ infrastructure.
“We took immediate protective measures to ensure the security of our customers, colleagues, and business, and we proactively notified the relevant authorities,” it said in the update. “One of our protective measures involved us proactively taking some systems offline, which has led to the disruption of some of the support services we provide to our customers. Our technical team is focused on restoring the affected systems and is working closely with third-party cyber experts.”
