AI, automation, and dark web fuel evolving threat landscape

Cyberattackers are rapidly adopting artificial intelligence (AI) and automation technologies, as well as tapping a slew of readily available Dark Web resources to develop more sophisticated cyberattacks faster than ever, new research has found.

FortiGuard Labs’ “2025 Global Threat Landscape Report,” released today, reveals a “dramatic escalation in both the scale and sophistication of cyberattacks” due to the rapid adoption of modern adversary technology and commoditized malware and attacker toolkits.

“Data shows adversaries are moving faster than ever, automating reconnaissance, compressing the time between vulnerability disclosure and exploitation, and scaling their operations through the industrialization of cybercrime,” according to the report.
